This important question is best posed to a Doctor. Every diabetic is different.

Diabetes is insulin related, and insulin IS a hormone.

It can be tricky, but by no means is it impossible to have a healthy child.

As to that child's risk of becoming diabetic, this depends on the history of Diabetes in both your families.

Like I said. Talk to a Doc first.

Being diabetic makes it very difficult sometimes when trying to have children. I would really think of the risks. And possibly, the disease is mostly in the family every time someone new gets it, but the baby may be okay. It may not, you seriously need to speek with your doctor about it. B/c, you see, the baby may get it from the mom, and you just asking on here is dumb, GO TO A REAL DOCTOR!!

it is advisable not to get baby yet if ur wife has such a high diabetic.this'll affect the mother n fetus health.usually dr would advise u to stop pregnant unless ur diabetic is under controlled.it is indeed very risky,so don't ever try it again. take care.
