Depending on what you want to do w/ ur phone as far as just using it for calls or if u want a camera phone or a mp3 capable phone........ My recommendations for each category would be...
Just for calling ----- LG 3450
Picture Phone ----- Samsung 870
All the Above ------ LG 8300 , Samsung a930 , Razr
The 8300, 930 and Razr have mp3 capabilties and are terrific phones. I sell them everyday and have had very little problems w/ these phones. The MP3 phones allow you to put in a memory card to transfer music, pics and video. Makes tranferring these things simple - either from ur computer to ur phone or from ur phone to ur computer. You will have to buy a card reader to put the memory card in and this will fit right into ur USB port on ur computer. The card readers are only about $10 - $15 and the cards run anywhere from $30 - $70 depending on the capacity u want. Most MP3 phones will only hold up to a 1gb card.
The chocolate is good too, it now comes in white as well as black which I would suggest. The black one seems to get alot of fingerprints easily.

Personally, whoever says the LG chocolate have you seen it after you slide the screen? It's not so great. But sadly, that's the phone I own. I reccommend getting the "Smart Phones" and PDAs(http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneOverviewByDevice&deviceType=PDA/SmartPhones). In example: Motorola Q or a the Verizon Wireless XV6700, Palm® Treo™ 700w Smartphone etc. I like then because it has boardband, bluetooth, camera, Windows Mobile (Windows Mobile® is an operating system that can bring much of the power of your personal computer to a mobile device. Windows Mobile combines rich features with a highly-intuitive, user-friendly interface and enables you to go to work without actually having to "go" to work.), video msging, QWERTY keyboard(QWERTY Keyboard for easy messaging. Talk about it easily and quickly, anywhere and anytime, with the QWERTY Keyboard.) Verizon Wireless, are you IN?

Verizon does provide help to easily study the ESN quantity to them suited over the telephone without a receipt. you apart from mght can pass to a VZW keep and characteristic them do it. i in my opinion would not take it to a radio shack although. telephones are low-priced yet no longer good customer provider. Do it via calling. extra fee-effective and much less complicated. It would not fee to do it over the telephone, taking it to a Verizon keep can fee.

I don't know what you mean by best phone. Meaning most expensive. I'm satisfied with LG Vx8100 which I believe now is 8300.
