The things you can't change
and the things you can change and had better take charge of.
Just as the only movie worth watching is about someone
who tries and takes responsibility for what she/he does,
so the only life worth living is the one where you do that too.
Just try to do the right thing, not what other people say you should; and take responsibility for really knowing the science of things or else being darned humble about what you don't know-- and keep trying to learn more all the time.
You don't have to be great to be a great person; just extremely honest about what you really know and what's just opinions.
That's how you respect reality yourself and other people.
