Firstly, everything in a memo is aligned to the left. At the top left you have Date, to, from and subject one below the other in that order. Remember to double space. Also, if you want to add your title and the other persons title you can either add a comma next to the name or directly below the name (single spaced though) Also, you want to remember to have everything after the colon aligned to each other. Like this,

Date:------January 1, 2006

To:---------Mary, President

From:------Jon, CEO

Subject:---Request for Air Conditioning

the thing wont let me put spaces in between... so just take out the hyphens. Main point it that they MUST line up... use a ruler if u have to...i do not know how important it is, but my lecturer sure made a big fuss when i did not do that.

Also, remember to initial next to your name. There is no signature in a memo. Do not indent your paragraphs. They should be single spaced and double space for paragraphs. Use an active voice when u want to get something across and passive if you have bad news. Always try to begin positive and end with thank you or if you need more help etc etc...

hope this helps =) have fun writing memos... UGH! wrote over 50 of them last semester... bad memories...
