Im not looking for a sabby emotional story about how you love your puppy and he loves you back. Is there any scientific evidence to suggests that animals are capable of loving something. I find it hard to believe that they do, evolutionarily it seems like love would be an emotion that was developed so that we would keep mates. Seeing most animals, there are some exceptions, mate with different mates all the time then its hard to believe that they can love this mate or that one.

Yes of heard the story of Koko but how is that a demonstration of love. Perhaps the gorilla took on care for the kitten out of sheer fascination of it.

Wild or animals that don't have constant contact with humans don't show that type of emotion. But housepets do show some type of affection and or acknowledgement for humans.

Yes, as a matter of fact they do. A lot of animals have quite a bit of emotions, but it's not proven that all animals have emotions. I don't think fish and certain other animals have. I was taught that those animals just have a primal instinct. I believe that love and other emotions have been mainly proven in mammals. Mammals have shown everything from love to hate. Even sadness and they have even shown depression.
Mammals have exhibited love in many ways. They have shown love towards humans and other animals, both of their species and out of their species.
But then again how would you define love. Something that looks like love, could also be called a primal instinct.

A gorilla named Koko adopted and cared for a kitten some years back. True story. Google "Koko" and "kitten" for some results....
ADDENDUM: Re: your additional details.............The gorilla cared for it, played with it, and signed that it was grieving and crying after the kitten died. Somehow I doubt that it was doing that just for the sake of fascination.....people close to Koko say it displayed many signs of loss and mourning. To me, that's significant.

I don't know about scientific evidence but I think they can feel love. Some animals will grieve their selves to death if a mate dies or their owner dies or something. Some animals also mate for life.

Animals are definitely capable of loving. Certain species are monogamous. Some bird species are this way and one bird will meet its partner every year in a particular place. If they're partner dies, some species will lay their head on their partner and wait to die. Also, in some non human primates it is obvious that a mother deeply love her children.

i think of animals experience love. they are able to alter into extremely linked to human beings or perhaps to a minimum of one yet another. in the event that they're seperated from their individual or animal by utilising dying or different motives they are able to alter into very depressed.

Yes, I'm positive animals can love. They don't love because of evolution, (which isn't even real,) they love because God created them that way!

Humans do, and last time I checked humans were animals, too! Why do you think feelings of love and hate are just limited to one type of animal but not the others?
