The other part of it, gender expression (machismo and femininity, as you put it), sometimes is incorporated into sexuality by certain people, and they sometimes they correlate, but it really has nothing to do with who you take into your bed.
You have masculine straight guys, effeminate gay guys, masculine gay guys, effeminate straight men, masculine straight women, masculine lesbians, feminine lesbians, feminine straight women. And a lot of people who identify on a spectrum of sexuality, gender, or both.
