9x-(-2x) = 5x+4x-{2(x-10+3+7)}(-1) = 5x +2x-11x+22x-5x-x+x(-1)

9x-(-2x)=9x+2x=11x
Subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive. Just be careful if you have something like 9x-(-2x+3x). You will have to distribute the negative, so you'd have 9x+(2x-3x) or 9x+2x-3x=8x.
Hope that helps.

when you subtract its ALWAYS add the opposite. so its 9x+2x
and if it was something like -4-5
you would add the opposite so it would be -4+-5
