Some plants can be hosed off with a fine misting spray.
My Mother used to wipe down larger plant leaves with milk on a rag. She said that the milk would clean the leaves and leave them shiny. That it did. I do the same thing with my Pothos Ivy plants.

Ugh! I hate that job! If the plant is moveable- either put it in the bathtub, or take it outside (in the shade) if the weather is warm enough, and gently spray the leaves with warm water until they're clean... If the plant is too big to move easily- then wet a very soft cloth & wipe each of the leaves until they're either all clean- or you've decided to give the plant away to someone you don't like! :)

One time I was at the admitting office of a hospital and the admitting clerk had a beautiful plant on her desk. The leaves looked shiny and healthy. I asked her how she kept her plant looking so good and she said she wipes the leaves gently with milk about once a week. I don't personally know if it works; but her plant was BEAUTIFUL.

I too like to rinse them in the shower. But, you can use a mixture of milk and water. Especially for leaves that have milky substances in them like Rubber Trees. The leaves will dry very shiney if you gently wipe off any droplets.

just get a bucket, put a gallon of luke warm water, and a squirt of mild dish soap in it. use a soft cloth and wipe them down. cleans the plants, and keeps the spider mites under control, and the aphids.(another type of house plant bug).

My mum used to either put them outside when it was raining (this waters them too), or she would dampen a cloth with some water and just gently wipe each leaf - this always worked well. It's amazing how dusty the poor things can get.
