I have this drill. It has a keyless chuck on it with a self locking shaft, so if you hold the drill in your right hand, put your left hand under the chuck and twist the plastic sleeve in the direction your thumb is pointing the jaws will loosen. if you twist it the other way the jaws will tighten.

two options. Does the chuck (the part that has the drill bit init) have teeth like gears? If so, then you need the "chuck key" If not, hold the black portion of the chuck REALLY hard, put the drill in reverse (arrow on left side of drill near trigger that points backwards) and slowly pull the trigger. this will loosen the bit and open the chuck. to put in the new bit, just do the same steps but in reverse. Enjoy.

The round thing the bit fits into is the chuck. It should have 2 or 3 holes in different places around it. Now, on the power cord, there should be a plastic piece with a bent piece of metal with a round, toothed edge. That's the chuck key. Put, the chuck key in one of those holes, and turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. The bit will just come out. To put in the new bit, just do the opposite. Hope this helps.

I don't have a dewalt but have used other drills, is there a part around the drill bit that will turn by hand (when its turned off) if so that should loosen the grip on the bit so you can put the new one in and tighten it up again.

Turn the chuck counterclockwise and "fingers" inside will release and open up. Turning more until you reach a size that will fit the next bit. Turn the other way to close.
