Society regards it as being healthy for boys to want to be boys and girls to want to be girls. When a man wears womens clothes the purpose of it is to either look like a woman or to receive some sexual gratification from the woman's clothes. In either case it doesn't seem healthy.
For the most part compulsive cross dressers feel a NEED to wear women's clothes. He can try to purge himself of women's clothes but he returns even worse than before. This is because his brain is releasing a series of neurotransmitters which give him a feeling of well-being, sexual gratification, pleasure and self-identity. By the time the cross dresser reaches 40 years or so, he will need increasing amounts of cross dressing to experience the same highs as before. He may consider surgery, dressing in public, etc. He may give his female alter-ego a name and actually fall in love with this alter-ego... All this is not healthy, it just a form of a sexual addiction. Society will be very, very slow to accept it as normal behavior.

It IS already acceptable for males to wear skirts in America...we are the last country to make the changeover...the rest of the world is way ahead of us in terms of gender identity and maturity...
In high schools and colleges males are NOW wearing skirts openly and young adult males are now wearing skirts exclusively as a form of attire, because it is both comfortable and healthy, particularly when it comes to procreation...
I wear skirts exclusively out and about in public, denim, knee length solids, nothing flowery or flashy (sorry Ru Paul !) but, I do it because wearing skirts are far, far, far more comfortable than pants and the people I see everywhere have nothing but compliments. I constantly get the same phrase every day that I meet someone new..."Damn, your legs are really sexy in a skirt !!!" and "Your legs are sexier in a skirt than ANY woman I've ever seen !!!" and that comes from older women.
The world is changing....change with it or your kids will be left behind...

Your ahead of your time! Only recently have pantyhose been accepted my men (Not all yet). A skirt makes sense as an option to pants in many situations but still isn't accepted in U.S. society. (Largely due to males insecure with their own sexuality and females jealous of males that look better than they do)!
Men are just now beginning to think for themselves and explore options to the boring fashions they have been plagued with for decades but it will be many years before skirts are accepted I would guess. Kilts are skirts by definition so don't be misled by that connotation. "Kilts" are selling well in the States now to those males who think for themselves and are secure in their own sexuality. Women have already robbed everything from the male side of the wardrobe and get away with it...so far men can't get away with that. Ahhhh some day there will be the freedom to wear whatever you want and not be labeled.

I'm with you. It's completely acceptable as far as I'm concerned, especially as I've been wearing women's clothes full-time for nearly 25 years. I don't even own any men's clothes. As for pants, I only wear feminine brands, and then only occasionally, as I prefer skirts and dresses, which are infinitely more comfortable.

I think they call that transexual!
Maybe you could be a girl in a guys body!
Guys have been wearing what you could call a dress for centuries: The Romans "Toga" was a dress, The Scotts wore a"Kilt' and I'm sure so did many other cultures!

I think they will, but it takes time. Up until 40 years ago, people didn't accept couples that were from different races, so we've come a long way. I personally could care less, and anyone who says something has problems.

You can go live in Scottland,...then you can wear a Kilt.
I heard they don't wear panties. Here in the US it isn't accepted,
and never will be, it is tolerated ,by good people and you can be
hurt or killed by bad people in society. Just be careful. Hope for
the best for ya. Take Care.

you shouldn't worry about what soceity thinks...if you feel good and comfortable when wearing dresses then that is all that matters..because beauty must first come from the inside to shine on the outside!
