What do I need to do in order to model for adidas or Nike?

I am a recent NCAA Division I women's basketball graduate with an athletic build, currently living in LA, and am very interested in modeling. African American, 5'9, 140 pounds of tone and muscle. Any suggestions?

you model at their casting call... iuf you are talking about ads... Nike is mainly done by an agency in Portland and New York City (Weiden Kennedy) Adidas... is done by TBWA/Chiat/Day (main office in LA)

To get on casting calls you usually have to be part of a modeling agency, there are agencies of all types... since you're athletic.. look for athletic focused modeling agencies... they take a cut... but they get you work...

There are rare chances that you may happen into a job where they (or someone like them) is doing a more "street" style campaign... less production, less cameras, less crew, less time casting.. more time pounding the pavement... this is pretty rare and it's basically luck... don't let any of this stop you though... just read the small print on your modeling contracts... and keep it as a side job till it pans out...

Who knows, i don't work at those agencies or on those accounts right now.. but one day I may even cast you...

Try to make yourself available to casting calls. It's also best if you take on smaller projects first in order to build your resume. If your really serious about venturing into this field, I also suggest that you take modeling classes. These classes focus on a number of areas such as the way you walk down the catwalk, how to pose, etc.
