Hi, i am 22 years old and for the past few years my periods have been irregular but nothing serious, however i have been gradually geting my periods more spread apart. A few times i have gone without a period for 6 months. I was originally on birth control for about 4 years but then had to go off due to some blood pressure issues and my doctor didn't want to take any risks. I have had pap smear, many blood tests including thyroid, blood cells, etc...all came back negative. I have small cysts on my ovaries but they say nothing abnormally large. I am definitely not pregnant. Since the summer i have been now bleeding off and on for 3 months straight, it was only heavy for 2 weeks and now it's a mixture of spotting and sometimes light regular bleeding. It's really frustrating and my doctor says nothings wrong and since anything with hormones in it is out of the question due to the blood pressure thing, he says nothing can be done for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

At 22 to have problems with blood pressure while on the pill, and to have some cysts on your ovaries, you may have or be at risk for metabolic syndrome. It is time to fire the doc that says nothing is wrong, because even if you do not have or are not developing metabolic syndrome, every one knows that bleeding so irregularly for so long is an issue and somewhat more of just an "inconvenience." Find a different GYN or even consider seeing an endocrinologist to make sure all your hormones are normal. Don't let some doctor treat you like a little girl when you know something is wrong and it is bothering you. The medical profession provides a service to us, they are not gods. If someone providing a service to you brushes you off or doesn't give you good service, you stop using that provider. Medical care should be the same way.

It may be endometreosis. Go to wrongdiagnosis.com and enter your symptoms in the syptom checker search. That will narrow down your possible diseases/causes. Good luck :)

Is there a reason you have not gone to the doctor?

just buy a giant tampon, or you know, stop bleeding.
