i'm assuming it has a 350, put a set of 305 heads on it,old trick we use on stock cars, ups your compression, need nothing fancy just a stock set of 305 heads with a valve and guide job.

This engine will run pretty well if you just open up the exhaust, meaning taking off the cat. Dual exhaust with headers will really add a lot to an engine like this. Another great thing is to change out the crappy stock cam to a slightly hotter one. 305s are known for having lousey flat cams. The intake and carb on this car actually aren't that bad for stock street purposes, so you wouldn't really need to change them, and it will most likely idle and run better and more efficiently if you leave them alone, unless you want to rip off both the carb and intake and start over from scratch. You'd have to have them off to change the camshaft anyway, but that's $400 more to spend. HEI ignition that's on it should be fine as it is. They don't have the greatest spark advance curve, but they have lots of power, and can be tuned fairly easily. sounds like a good project car, good luck!

Best choice is to save money trying to up that 305 and drop a 350 in it. If that's not in the cards? Edelebrok intake, upgrade the carb to TBI injection. Add the flowmaster exhuast. Upgrade the ignition system.

for one gas mileage and horsepower DON'T mix. Save you money you will not make it faster with after market quick fixes
Not unless you change your intake then you need the cam that goes with that. And then you need special head's bigger valve's higher compression ring's. All this stuff fit;s together one or 2 parts will not do much

the biggest performance gain feel you can get is from changing your rear gear if your running a three speed trans. run a 3.23 or 3.42, if its a overdrive trans run a 3.73 or 4.10. I would also suggest the lock right rear end kit. its a lot more bang for the buck.
