Please have a look at the website I have recommend that you guys have a look at. The Israelis are intent on demolishing Palestinians homes and build more illegal settlements and outposts. The Palestinians have every right to live life in thier own homeland. So, who is occupying who? Please do not come up with some crap such as "Israel has every right to defend itself", or some other historical references from over 2,000 years (reference to the past sixty years is ok). What matters is what is happening now. By the way, I have heard many times in the media that those Israeli settlements are "Jewish nieghbourhoods". They are settlements, illegally built on Palestinian territory. I am not trying to start anything, just being honest.

Truth:

The term "Palestine" is believed to be derived from the Philistines, an Aegean people who, in the 12th Century B.C.E., settled along the Mediterranean coastal plain of what are now Israel and the Gaza Strip. In the second century C.E., after crushing the last Jewish revolt, the Romans first applied the name Palaestina to Judea (the southern portion of what is now called the West Bank) in an attempt to minimize Jewish identification with the land of Israel. The Arabic word "Filastin" is derived from this Latin name.3

The Hebrews entered the Land of Israel about 1300 B.C.E., living under a tribal confederation until being united under the first monarch, King Saul. The second king, David, established Jerusalem as the capital around 1000 B.C.E. David's son, Solomon built the Temple soon thereafter and consolidated the military, administrative and religious functions of the kingdom. The nation was divided under Solomon's son, with the northern kingdom (Israel) lasting until 722 B.C.E., when the Assyrians destroyed it, and the southern kingdom (Judah) surviving until the Babylonian conquest in 586 B.C.E. The Jewish people enjoyed brief periods of sovereignty afterward before most Jews were finally driven from their homeland in 135 C.E.

Jewish independence in the Land of Israel lasted for more than 400 years. This is much longer than Americans have enjoyed independence in what has become known as the United States.4 In fact, if not for foreign conquerors, Israel would be 3,000 years old today.

Palestine was never an exclusively Arab country, although Arabic gradually became the language of most the population after the Muslim invasions of the seventh century. No independent Arab or Palestinian state ever existed in Palestine. When the distinguished Arab-American historian, Princeton University Prof. Philip Hitti, testified against partition before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946, he said: "There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history, absolutely not."5

Prior to partition, Palestinian Arabs did not view themselves as having a separate identity. When the First Congress of Muslim-Christian Associations met in Jerusalem in February 1919 to choose Palestinian representatives for the Paris Peace Conference, the following resolution was adopted:

We consider Palestine as part of Arab Syria, as it has never been separated from it at any time. We are connected with it by national, religious, linguistic, natural, economic and geographical bonds.6

In 1937, a local Arab leader, Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, told the Peel Commission, which ultimately suggested the partition of Palestine: "There is no such country [as Palestine]! 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented! There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria."7

The representative of the Arab Higher Committee to the United Nations submitted a statement to the General Assembly in May 1947 that said "Palestine was part of the Province of Syria" and that, "politically, the Arabs of Palestine were not independent in the sense of forming a separate political entity." A few years later, Ahmed Shuqeiri, later the chairman of the PLO, told the Security Council: "It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria."8

Palestinian Arab nationalism is largely a post-World War I phenomenon that did not become a significant political movement until after the 1967 Six-Day War and Israel's capture of the West Bank

Palestine (in Arabic Falasteen ) has been a part of the arab empire for the last 2000 years. in 1948 Jews from all over the world especially from east Europe invaded Palestine and occupied it. They kicked Palestinians out of their home. They have been refugees in different locations of some Arab countries. Isreal was estblished at that year in place of Palesine. However, Israel is still expanding on the expense of Arab land. They are building settelments in occupied Arab land. The world realizes Israel as an occuping force but USA has always used the veto to defeat any decision by UN to criticize Israel. I pary that some day Americans will realize the injustice their goernment is doing against Palestian people.

little doubt approximately it, he needs to leave place of work with a greater proper legacy than the disastrous Iraq invasion, for which he will continuously be remembered because of the fact the low IQ window licker he's. an identical deal became mooted throughout the previous couple of months of the Clinton administration, the Oslo contract. This became a intentionally unacceptable (to the Palestinians) supply, as Ehud Barak, and little doubt Clinton, knew finished nicely that once Arafat refused it he would look like he became refusing the possibility of peace. This became precisely what the Israelis needed and gave them the excuse to construct their apartheid wall; protecting shelter my @rse. i'd be very bowled over if this new deal to create a Palestinian state isn't a warmed over rehash of the Oslo deal. extremely of a single unified state with respectable usable land, they are going to be presented separate cantons, on land that the Israelis do no longer choose, and little doubt the Palestinians would be expected to relinquish their suitable to return to everywhere else on the peninsula this is their place of commencing place, as in the Oslo contract; in spite of this being a call for that violated the standard statement of human rights (small case meant). Bush does't supply a sh1t appropriate to the Palestinian human beings, he only needs to look stable. If he rather cared approximately fixing the subjects of Palestine he would desire to start up by utilising no longer merchandising the Israelis billions of greenbacks in palms, and giving them 10% of the u . s .'s help budget to purchase them with. Now, how a lot of you think of which will rather take place?

I guess the jews believe that by bullying the weaker nations they can force them to accept there supiriority. Granted that the jews have every right to exsist just like any of us, but they have no right to dictate to Palestinians that Hamas cannot form a legitimate govt. Who do they think they are? A super power? I dont think so(Hezbollah has proven otherwise). They will never know peace unless they stop there bullying and brutal tactics. Violence begets violence.

what was the excuse for the Arab attempts to destroy Israel before 1967? What was the excuse for Arabs to massacre Jews before 1948? "Palestinian" is a recent invention. Even in 328 after the 1973 war, there is no reference to "Palestinians" because the Arabs hadn't yet invented the word to describe Arab residents of the wester 1/4 of mandatory Palestine.
You htink that Israel's right to self defense is crap? I think that characterizes you quite accurately. Protest all you want, you hate Jews.

Hello Zabanya,

In the details of your question you seek to reject references to ancient Israel. However, that will not do, because by attempting to restrict answers in this manner, you are seeking to reject the roots of the Jewish People in their ancestral homeland of Israel.

The last "indigenous" state (meaning run by the natives rather than by a foreign power) that comprised the area now called Israel and also referred to as “Palestine”, before the formation of the State of Israel, was the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judea with its capital at Jerusalem (now referred to as “East Jerusalem” also “the Old City”).

You can read about the Jewish Hasmonean dynasty here:
http://www.britannica.com/topic/Hasmonean-dynasty

You can view the geographical position of the Jewish Kingdom of Judea, here:
http://www.biblestudy.org/maps/kingdoms-of-judah-and-israel.html
and view the geographical position of the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judea, here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hasmonean_dynasty

There is no Jewish /Israeli "occupation" of “Palestine”, because to accept this concept would imply that the Jewish People have allegedly "stolen" their ancestral homeland.

By definition there can have been no alleged Jewish /Israeli “theft” of Palestine, since the term "Palestine" post-dates the Jewish Kingdom of Judea. The Jewish People were therefore in the land before the Palestinians. There has never been a sovereign state called "Palestine".

See above for details of the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judea.

The Jewish People have lived continuously in the land to the present from before the Arab invasion and occupation. The Palestinians come from the peoples who invaded and occupied the Jewish land of Judea, and they also take their name from the name given to the land by the Roman occupiers, when the Romans renamed as “Palæstina”, the Jewish / Israelite land called Judea / Israel.

"After the Bar Kokhba's revolt (132–135 [CE]), the Roman Emperor Hadrian changed the name of the Judea province and merged it with Roman Syria to form Syria Palaestina ...":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syria_Palaestina

Since the Jewish People cannot logically "steal" their own homeland they also cannot logically be accused of placing it under any form of alleged "occupation".

While there is just one Israel, there are 21 Arab plus more Muslim countries; plus Arab oil influence. So, with each member country having one vote at the United Nations, you may not find it surprising that there have been many anti-Israel United Nations resolutions passed, including those which result in illogical claims of “Occupation". Since the Palestinians also claim the whole of Israel, the Palestinians also therefore describe Israel as “occupied”.

Although Jordan was originally part of the administrative area called “Palestine” and the Palestinians attempted to take over Jordan by force 1970 to 1971 and were thrown out, there are no resolutions at the U.N. claiming Jordan is “occupied Palestinian” land. This is because the 21 Arab plus more Muslim votes at the U.N. (compared with Israel being one country), make it rather easier to make false allegations of “occupation” against Israel.

Regarding your source referring to alleged "illegal settlements":

The whole rationale of "illegality" in relation to Jewish “settlements” is illogical and should not be accepted on its face value.

Only in regard to the State of Israel, would people use the term "settlements" to describe a sovereign nation building homes on its own land.

The term "Palestine" post-dates the Jewish Kingdom of Judea. The Jewish People were therefore in the land before the Palestinians. There has never been a sovereign state called "Palestine".

All the “settlements” are on land previously of the Jewish Kingdom of Judea, and cannot therefore be logically defined as illegal.

Please see above for details about the Jewish Hasmonean Kingdom of Judea.

Again, while there is just one Israel, there are 21 Arab plus more Muslim countries (plus Arab oil influence). So, with each member country having one vote at the United Nations, you may not find it surprising that there have been many anti-Israel United Nations resolutions passed, including those which also result in Israeli home-building being termed “illegal settlements”.

The Palestinians have two territories (or colonies, on Israelite / Judean soil) which the Palestinians run themselves with their own army and police, but if they wanted to come to an agreement regarding current matters that they dispute, they would be willing to negotiate a peace treaty. Instead, they consider themselves at war with Israel, and they also claim the whole of Israel.

In 1948 after the Arab countries attacked the new State of Israel but lost the war, Jordan then occupied the West Bank and Egypt occupied the Gaza strip; neither offered these areas to the Palestinians. In 1967 Israel gained control of these areas and the Palestinians were later given autonomy for the West Bank and Gaza strip by Israel pending negotiations for a proper peace.

I hope this helps.

question

who legally owns the land?

as far as I remember most of the land was not owned by Palestinians but by the British government who gave it over to Israel. The same is true with Jordanian ownership of the West Bank.

Its kind of hard to steal land if you never owned it in the first place.

If I am wrong please show me any evidence that the Israeli government built on land that was owned by Palestinians
