Because a c-section is a surgery and giving birth is natural. Now think of it this way: with a surgery comes this risk of dying because of anesthesia, bleeding and infection. Natural birth is far less dangerous.

I would imagine either way would be so painful emotionally. I also would imagine the doctor would give you the choice of method. I personally think that a c section would be better because you really do not have to put any effort into it whereas natural birth you do have to push and all that. It would be so hard to put effort into something like that knowing what the outcome already is. I do know that there are some doctors that let you chose your method of birth I dint see why this would change with a stillborn baby.
By the way for those who think a c section is just so awful the recovery is not that bad I have had a c section and also have done a lot of research on this it is not so much more dangerous.

I agree with you even if no else seems to. When I was in labor with my daughter, the only thing that kept me going was the thought of finally being able to hold her, kiss her, and take her home. If I was carrying a baby that had died in utero, there is no way I could do a vaginal birth. I don't care how much pain I would be in afterwards or how long the physical recovery time would be, there is no way that I could handle the mental anguish of laboring and pushing only to see a baby that was already gone. I'd want them to put me under general anesthesia as well, so I would have no memory at all of them removing the baby. Most people recover well from c-sections these days, and I'll take physical pain over additional mental suffering any day.

I have had a c-section and a normal birth. I would think a woman with no prior c-section would not want a big scar reminding her everyday , for the rest of her life that she had a dead baby and this is how they took it out. It is actually healthier, and has a much shorter recovery time for a woman's body to give birth vaginally.

Because, bluntly, since the baby is already dead, there is no point risking the woman's health to deliver it by C-section. A C-section is far more likely to lead to complications than a vaginal delivery- it is a major operation. Recovery times, chance of infection, poor reaction to the anaesthetic, you name it, it's all more likely with a C-section. Plus you have a uterine and abdominal scar that *may* rupture in a future pregnancy.
C-sections are a trade-off between mother's health and baby's health. If there's no baby to save, and the mother is in good enough health to give birth vaginally, there's no point performing one.

I wonder the same thing. A woman I knew recently had a miscarriage and had to give birth. I couldn't imagine the horror of delivering a dead baby.

C section is a major surgery and hard on the body.
Labor is naturs' way to take care of this. I know it is difficulit, but that is how it is done.
I can't imagine lossing a child in utero and I pray for all mothers who do.

With each surgery in the abdomen, your body creates more scar tissue. That can make getting pregnant again very hard if scar tissue forms around the fallopian tubes. That is what my Dr explained to me.
