after i put the car in park and take the key out of the ignition the car stays on. not the engine though only eletrical appliances. the radio wont shut off the lights stay lit. the battery dies from the power of the radio staying on. if i jump the car it starts back up but the same problem remains once i remove the key. i have completly removed the battery and charged it but once i put the battery back in i got the same problem. it seems like a minoer problem that i could fix if i just got some info thanx

The battery dying is probably the alternator. Is your check battery/generator light coming on? If it is, then its most definitely the alternator. If the engine doesn't stop right away when you turn it off, sputters or runs rough for a few seconds or longer, then that is most likely the timing. Its called "dieseling", it could be that the computer is junk, or the timing gear, belt, or chain is not right. Don't take my word for gospel, though, get it checked out by an A.S.E certified mechanic.

ok i can read. the power stays on for the accesories only. radio and lights are always on.

do you have a remote car starter installed if so the relay for accesorie might be staying on - disconnect and try that.

second if that doesnt work - your car has a body control module and a lighting control module both could be keeping the power on. for this you will need a mechanic.

third your car has a lighting control timer - when u close the door with key out of ignition the timer starts - if your door ajar light is on then there is a switch in the door latch that needs to be replaced - mechanic - unless u can find the hidden screws on the interior door panel and replace the switch with a contortionist arm.

till then just disconnect the battery after u drive and it will be ready next time u start it

The ignition switch has probably had its still completing the circuit for the car to be key on engine off giving you power without the ignition spark. Its ways to get by without fixing it but it would probably better to replace the switch and key.

Can you describe what is going on better? Are you talking about dieseling? Then what do you mean the battery dies? I don`t get it. Would like to help.
