The German invasion of France was in May and June 1940.

The purpose was to take over western Europe in order to avoid a two-front war when Germany invaded east - the main target of the German war-making machine was the Soviet Union.

Why did Hitler hate the USSR? He sincerely hated Jews and Communists and that's where most of them were. Also, German expansion for "living space" had to be toward the east - there was nowhere else.

You really need enlightening. Hitler invaded France in 1940, June 1944 was the Allied invasion of Normandy to liberate France.

He didn't attack France in June of 1944. That's when the Allies attacked the Normandy beaches to take France back from the Germans, who'd conquered it in either 1939 or 1940. Hitler wanted to conquer all of Europe and France, being part of Europe, would have been a target eventually. As for strategic reasons, the French were building up their defenses in the form of the Maginot Line which, if it had been completed, may have made it much harder for the Nazis to take France. By striking before the line was completed (they bypassed it along a gap), they took a lot fewer casualties than they may have otherwise.

Hitler served in WWI as a Private and hated France, because Germany lost the War and he felt that Germany was victimized and exploited by the Victors of WWI. He wanted to get even for all the injustice he imagined happened, his motives for invading France and then travel to Paris as the victor was motivated by revenge and hatred. Instead of putting the blame for WWI where it belonged at Kaiser Wilhelm's feet, he blamed France. I believe you have the year wrong, it was earlier then 1944.
