when writing : I will meet you at 7 a.m. . i was always taught to change the sentence to read : i will meet you at 7:00 in the morning. this makes the sentence a bit longer but more visually acceptable to the reader then the double periods at the end of the sentence. then again i was in second grade 44 years ago so who knows what they teach now a days :)

Yes Yes Yes. I have edited a school newsletter and this was one of several mistakes made over and over again by submitters to the newsletter. It was especially frustrating when it came from teachers who should know. But in their defense they were not English teachers.
