i am 36.5 weeks pregnant and i lost my mucous plug at 34.3 weeks with no blood. Today i had one little spec of blood in my panties, enough to be seen and noticed but not if i hadnt been checking for it...but has anybody experienced such a small amount of spotting? did it mean anything for you? and did you end up having more spotting over some time?...any details would be appreciated! i am just curious if this is indeed a sign of anything lol...Thanks!

also i was a fingertip dilated exactly a week ago...

As your cervix dilates, sometimes small capillaries burst, causing light spotting or "bloody show." All that it means is that your cervix is dilating and getting ready for labor. Labor could be soon or it could still be a few more weeks. Make sure you tell the doctor about your mucous plug and spotting at your next checkup so you can get checked to see how far along you are. Otherwise, don't worry unless there is more than just a speck of blood, and savor these last few days when you still get to keep your baby all to yourself!

You should be going into labor anytime now. Although you can loose your mucus plug up to 2 weeks before you actually go in to labor you should call your doctor or call the hospital and talk to a nurse since you are seeing blood.

When I was pregnant for my first child I experienced some spotting and let me tell you it freaked me out. I had my mom call my doctor and he said it was fine as long as it didn't get any heavier. I went to the doctor that day and found out that I had started dilating and delivered my daughter that day. If you are truly concerned don't be afraid to ask your doctor. I hope this helps. :)

i havent lost mine.. I am 38 weeks.. but i have read alot about it and it seems that after about 34 weeks its very normal.. its the start of your body prepareing for labor.. its not really dangerous to go after 35 weeks. Unless the pregnancy is problematic.. But you should have a healthy baby any where after 36 weeks !!

You could not have lost your plug w/o at least a strand of blood on it, your cevix could be rippening or you could be dialating fast now, which can cause spotting.

you need to speak with a dr. usually it means you will begin labor shortly
