I would not use a used car seat, No they can not check to see if it is safe, they would have no way of knowing if it was in a car accident. even if it was a small one, it should not be used, You need to buy a new one. Please do not borrow one, just buy a new one, it is the safest. Your local police department should be able to help you with installation of the seat Please go to www.usa.safekids.org, go to saftey tips and than cars go to questions. they will also be able to tell you where to go for car seat checks. DO NOT USE A USED CAR SEAT.

YES they sure can! They are happy to assist just go by and have them check it as well as proper installaion. They say over 50% of people have improperly installed car seats which often times makes it even more dangerous for the child or non-effective. Great idea having them check it out! Proud of you and your concern.

Yes they should be able to you might call and ask them to see if they do. I know where I live they have free car seat checks and they where able to tell me if my used car seat was safe.

They will install it and show you how and make sure it is safe in the car
They will not just put it in and send you off. They want to make sure it's safe and if it's not they will let you know
Your local Health Department has them at low cost and will show you how to install it safely
