There's only one movie with ideas that's all-time "The Fountainhead", 1949. It's the one script where a central character acts like a sane adult and stands up for his rights. The best adventure film is the tv movie, 1959's"The Scarface Mob", the Eliot Ness movie with Robert Stack, for the same reason.

I would have to say Rent. Not only is it celebrating the work of an amazingly talented composer, Jonathan Larson, it also talks about things that people in our society need to worry about.

It's all about living like this is your last day on earth, because it very well might be. The future isn't guaranteed and the past is the past.

Another reason this is a great movie - it features six of the eight Original Broadway Cast leads in their original roles nine years after they first played the part (with the exception of Anthony, because he played Mark two years prior to the actual opening of Rent in a workshop production). They are amazingly talented, and it stays truer to Jonathan Larson's vision than most adaptations do.
