Hi. The new Indica Xeta engine with a displacement is a scaled down version of the 1400CC Xeta version.
The 1200CC engine offers a decent power of 63PS which is quite good considering the weight of the car[1 ton] Also you can expect more average than the Xeta counterpart.
Its a torquey engine and costs decently. The range is expected to be betwn 2.4 to 2.9 lacs.
Also you get the cool looks of Xeta with a satisfaction of owning a Tata car.
So i rate it 8 out of 10.
Cheers,
Jay

Have they launched it at all? It was about time that they did, given that the original excise excemption was limited to small cars with engine capacities less than 1200cc. One wonders how Tata's managed to price such a wonderful 1400cc version at the same price as Maruti's pathetic 800cc Alto. Maybe there was another revision which allowed <1400cc vehicles to benefit as well.
If the reduction in the capacity is at the expense of more than 5ps/hp, I'd still recommend the present 1396cc Xeta over it. However chances are Tata's may have managed to get their act together on a 3 or 4 valve SOHC/DOHC head. With the right engine management, they may be able to churn out over 70ps (the Honda city manages 100hp in a 1400cc engine). In which case it will make an absolute great buy.
