Did you check to see if your Presario processor and motherboard would accept and handle 1024mg of Ram? And are you sure it needed DD Ram?
Defrag your hard drive. I know Windows has a defrag, but I use a really good, fast one. It is Auslogics Disk Defrag, and is free. It defragged my hard drive in about 20 minutes, and it usually takes 1-2 hours.
If you're running Windows XP, do a Disk Cleanup. You may have a lot of junk stuck here and there. Do this before you defrag. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and select Disk Cleanup. Let it run, it only takes a few minutes.
I don't know what you mean by system works, so I don't know what you have. But if you don't have a really good antivirus program, get Avast! or AVG. Download, install and run it. Then get SpyBot and Ad-Aware, install both and run them both. All told, you're going to spend an hour or so doing this. It's worth it, if you can get it to run again. Good luck, I hope this helps!

2 issues. Do you've an anti virus? Microsoft protection necessities works for me (with an internet site checker) test for viruses. If its not that then attempt this to optimize your pc. Its probable were given junk files. a million bypass to the starting up menu open pc and proper click Ccontinual 2 (For living house windows,) click on clean up disk and run as admin in case you may. sparkling as a lot of it as plausible. 3 repeat a million the. bypass to residences and use techniques. Then verify for blunders. you should scheadual a disk verify. Reboot pc The verify Will very last for really a lengthy time period so attempt this even as your not gonna use the pc. After it finishes you may bypass back and repeat the steps to get to techniques. you may now do a disk defragment. (do not do it earlier disk checkup because it can crash your pc) And if that would not reason it to run easily then you truthfully have gotten yet another virus for you to get/eliminate. Or get it looked at through a proffesional. (note;in case you set in an anti virus when you already stuck an epidemic. 80% probability it gained't bump into it. only an fyi)

take a look at your video card. If you say you now have a 1GB of ram, cleaned your comp (virus/spyware scan- housecall65.trendmicro.com, disk cleanup, defrag- part of MS Windows -to name some basic things) cleared your system of unneccessary files and startup programs, then I'd look at your video card. Ram will help some of the lag, but video cards can burn out. Depending on how old your computer is, it may be more practical to get a new computer entirely. But if you are really fixed on keeping this one, find out what slot you use (PCI-E/AGP/PCI) and get an nVidia video card to replace the current video card you have or onboard video. Several of the peoples computers I serviced including my fathers needed a new video card. I would also personally recommend the nVidia Geforce line as I have had the least problems from those out of all the cards I've bought and used.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
