–noun Franz , 1883–1924, Austrian novelist and short-story writer, born in Prague whose stories, such as “The Metamorphosis” (1916), and novels, including The Trial (1925) and The Castle (1926), concern troubled individuals in a nightmarishly impersonal world.

Franz Kafka was an author of short stories mostly. Usually he depicted situations in which the obvious solution was not doable, or situations where a seemingly reachable goal was unreachable. Some people say Kafka was crazy, but I believe his message came from experience with bureaucracy.

Franz Kafka, he was a novelist- *LOL* the "brooding intellectual" types loved to quote him or expound on the psychology of his thinking or his works- I am kinda lukewarm about his works myself. Please read them for yourself and make up your own mind though :o)
