Pregnancy hormones are designed to slow down your digestion and metabolism so you and your baby can take advantage of every calorie and nutrient that you consume. Try to keep your diet reasonable, but don't worry too much about your weight gain now. Once your baby is born, the hormones released from and calories consumed by breastfeeding should quickly help you lose the majority of your weight. And with a little work at the gym, your metabolism should be back to normal quickly.

at your stage of pregnancy, the baby gains about a half a pound a week. so while the baby is the one actually gaining that weight, you will see it in your weight too obviously. don't worry it will come off. the only things to remember is that to give yourself as long as it took to gain the weight to take it back off. i didn't lose the rest of my weight until my son was about 10 months old. however, even though i only weigh 3 pounds more than when i got pregnant, my body does not look the same by any means.

i am 36 weeks pregnant, and the whole weight thing is crazy. i was very small when i got pregnant, and now i am pushing 160. there are some weeks where i gain and some where i won't. the baby is going through a growing stage right now, so hang in there. you should see your metabolism again. i hope i do. :)

Sweetheart, the reason you are gaining so much weight is because your baby is still growing... right now is not the time to worry about weight control, just focus on getting the nutrients you and your baby need and worry about your weight later. Just think that you are almost done... if you are very concerned ask your O.B.

I am 36 weeks... I was 110lbs. @ 9 weeks and now I am 150lbs and counting... so dont feel bad
