As far as reception goes, it depends on where you live. The quility of the phone you buy also matters. The cheap phones often have alot of reception problems. As far as good value, you have to wait for special promotions by carrior. These are one time promotion, and once you got them, you have them for life until you cancle. Phone carriers are requried by law to give you 15-30 days to try the phone, if it doesn't work you can return it with no canclation fee. You are only charge for the portion you used the phone.

You can go to some of the carriers websites to compare the phones there. The day after Thanksgiving "black Friday" is usually an excellent day to buy because, even though it might be busy, the holiday sales begin on that day.
When you're looking for a phone, think about how you want to use it and what features might be helpful to have. Do you want to do text messages alot? Do you need a phone with a camera? Are you willing to sign a 2-year contract to get a phone for free or very cheap? Many of those phones are really nice. Do you like the flip or prefer something small and straight? Once you look at the models available on some carrier websites, get brave and venture into a retail location to handle the actual phones. Are the buttons too small for your fingers? Are the accessories, such as ear phones or car adapter included in the package? Once you've found something you like, just wait until after Thanksgiving to go back and get it.
Also ask, when you buy, if there is a "buyers remorse" period where you can test and phone and if you don't like it, you can still return it. Most carriers will have about a 14 day window, which should be plenty of time for you to decide if you're happy with the phone.
Best manufacturers out there: Samsung, Nokia, Motorola. Any reputable cell company will have several models for you to look at and choose from.

They are not the very latest mobiles but are still very popular indeed, the Nokia 6230i and 6630 both great phones really!! They cost less than when they first came out but both worth it. Check them both out at Nokia.com.
