Well it is nice to give gifts on Christmas, but they don't have to be of the kind that you buy from the mall. It could be giving your time to help others( such as working in a soup kitchen), or donating money to a charity to help others, or making something for someone you care about.

I personally don't believe that it is necessary to give a gift at Christmas time, particularly if you are unemployed or just don't have the money to purchase gifts.

Christmas is a time for sharing love and spending time with relatives and friends. For some parents, having all of their children come home for Christmas means more to them than a store bought gift..

It's not necessary or even needed to give gifts. But if you want to avoid family drama, you may as well do it so they can feel "special" that you spent money on them. Otherwise, I think gift buying on "holidays" is pretty absurd. I'd rather avoid that shet and go clean out my apartment giving stuff away to the needy or volunteering help somewhere.

Not necessarily. I would like to give them before Christmas. Christmas day I just want to open my gifts, clean up the mess, eat and sleep.

With both my parents sick and diabetics ,my dad had to be taken to the hosp[ital in September. It really put the whole family in a financial bind.
At Christmas time, just having the whole family together with the kids and plenty of food is better than any gift bought at any price.

No. My favorite part of the Holiday is just spending time with family and friends. I wish we could get rid of the gift giving, or tone it down. I think its gotten out of hand and taken away from the true meaning of the holiday.
