I have two roomates in college, they are white and black and they don't wash their hair everyday. Do all black and white women do this and I'm curious as to why they do?

I used to wash my hair religiously every day. However, as I got older, I realized that this was unnecessary and unhealthy. My hair gets really dry when I wash it everyday (to the point that it almost clings to itself like dreadlocks). When I limit my hair washing to 2-3 times per week, my hair is healthier.

A person washes their hair more to keep it healthy, right? I mean, unless you work in a sewer plant or something else gross, what are you really washing away?

I am white, I was my hair ever day or every other day. Sometimes washing hair everyday dries it out. Some women haven't discovered the vast different shampoo types at your local supermarkets, and just pick up any old shampoo. Where a lot of other women use expensive shampoo designed just for their hair types. It all boils down to......It depends on the woman.

Most white women I know wash their hair everyday, though I am not going to follow them into the shower because I really don't care what they do with their hair. Black women have very fragile hair, and I don't think it's good for the hair to wash everyday. I used to care for a black lady and she always went to the salon to have it washed(which was possibly weekly). Too much washing on their hair causes breakage and strips it of oil.

I thought that white women do wash their hair everyday. I can speak for most black women though. Most black people's hair is of a different texture than white, latinos and asians. Also, I think it has something to do with oily hair. Black women, for the most part, need their hair oily. I know I do. To my understand that is why others wash theirs everyday to keep the oil out. May God Bless

From what I have see white girls tend to wash there hair everyday(not unless in a style or something) Black girls don't wash there hair everyday because that would take all the moisture and or make it fall out and we sistas cant afford that.

Typically white women usually wash their hair everyday or every other day, they tend to have naturally oily hair. Whereas black women tend to have naturally dry and usually have to add a little grease or oil to it, so it is not necessary for them to wash their hair everyday and if they do, it would leave it excessively dry with no nutrients

I'm a white man. I only shampoo my hair maybe once/week. My hair is naturally very thin and only gets a texture a few days after shampooing. Only after a week or more does it get greasy and thats when I shampoo it.

On days when I do shampoo I have to load on the hairspray to get it to stay put, otherwise its everywhere.

I'm white and wash my hair every day because it's oily as hell and I'm an avid swimmer. (If you have any blond in your hair and you don't wash chlorine out quick, it turns green.)

Other white women may have dry or processed hair, and it would be a bad idea for them to wash it every day.

Black women tend not to wash it every day because their hair will dry right out and not hold a style. That's what black friends have told me.

First, they're just your roommates, they don't represent their entire race. Second, they don't need to...I know my hair is thick and if I would wash it every day then it would be really dry and bad. I had a magazine that said even every 2-3 days is normal to wash your hair. If your hair is thin and straight though, you might have to wash it more often. It really depends.
