If there were to be a college football playoff down the road, how many teams should be involved? Which conferences are allowed/disallowed? Do the top teams deserve first round Byes?

16 team format with the higher ranked teams having the home game for first round games. After its down to eight you use pre existing bowls to hold the remaining games.

Conference champions from the Big 6 should get automatic bids the rest of them are seeded according to current BCS formatting, if a conference champion isnt in the top 16 then they get the 16th seed in the playoff. Payouts for conferences can follow the same formula they use now for bowl games with very little modification.

I would have to say to include the conference winners of the major conferences and the remaining spots filled by at large bids which would give the little guys like Rutgers a legitimate chance to contend for a title. This is ridiculous when you think about the loser of the Michigan/Ohio State game still getting a chance to contend even though they just lost a game. If they wanted to compete for the title then they shouldn't of got beat.

It should be a 16 team playoff open to all conferences and independents with NO BYES.

never gonna happen. Not having a playoff generates more debate and interest in 1A football.
