For about 2 months I've been having discharge.
Description: It is thick, white, looks like cottege cheese, and has a foul scent.

It is really depressing i am scared to have sex with my boyfriend, and it is putting a strain on our relationship. I have done two abortions in the past two years and i was told that i should take a pap test after i did my last abortion but i didnt. I am really depressed. I have seen articles about bacterial vaginosis and cervical cancer. I currently have no money to pay for a doctor. Also i have tried to douche, i have tried the yeast infection package but nothing has worked. Someone help?????????

Hello:
It sounds like you have some type of infection. There are many.
1. Chlamydia (a sexually transmitted disease)-sometimes no symptoms, discharge is usually greyish-white and watery but it can be thick too and have an odor.
2. Gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease)-somtimes no symptoms, discharge is usually white to yellow and thicker and can have an odor.
3. Garderella vaginalis (bacterial vaginosis)-not a sexually transmitted disease, discharge is usually greyish to yellow and has a very foul fishy odor.
4. Candiditis (yeast infection)-not sexually transmitted, discharge is almost always white and appears like cottage cheese, usually not much of an odor at all, very itchy and causes redness.
5. Trichomonas-sexually transmitted, discharge is usually white to yellow sometime greenish, very bubbly looking, sometimes foul odor.
Regardless, you MUST see a doctor to be tested for all of the above. If you dont treat it, these infections can cause sterility, pelvic inflammatory disease and miscarriages.
If you cannot afford to see a doctor, find out where your local Public Health Department is and make an appointment there.
They will also perform a pap smear (which looks for cervical cancer and human papilloma virus) and take cultures of your vagina and cervix.
I hope this helped answer your question.
Best regards,
Warren Shaffer, M.D.

The symptoms you describe could be a yeast infection...but the one day or even the three day meds don't always help. Try the week long treatment and if that doesn't help, contact your local planned parenthood...they will be able to direct you to a clinic (either free or low cost). You really shouldn't put this off...get in to be seen...soon. Good Luck to you...

if you have a yeast infection, i would advise not to douche... if the yeast infection medicine didn't work, then you really should see a doctor. You need to get this treated because it could lead to other things...

here is a website to help try and clear up some stuff that you can do yourself.

http://www.msu.edu/user/eisthen/yeast/yourself.html

however, really the best thing to do is have a professional see it, because they can tell you what you have and what you should do.
good luck :)

First of all, get you some form of birth control. Abortion isn't 1 of them. Second it sounds like you have a bad yeast infection and need antibiotics. Go to a doctor ASAP.

Sounds like a yeast infection. Don't have sex with your boyfriend because it can be passed on to him. You need to see a doctor. Do you have a health department or free clinic around you? You really need a prescription medication to get rid of it. Until you do, eat yogurt and cottage cheese. Buttermilk is really good if you can handle it. But please have it checked out.

You may have BV. That is what is sounds like. BV is not a big deal. Most women will have BV or have had it and usually do not even know it. It is caused by such things as soaps, panty liners, etc... even the doctors do not completely know what causes it.

There are free clinics EVERYWHERE. Go to one. If it is BV they will give you a cream to use ... don't worry. All will be fine!

Also ask your boyfriend to go for check up too. He may be carrying it without knowledge. It will have no end if both are passing the bacteria back to the other.
