Sometimes young women are so anxious to get pregnant that they defeat their purpose -- in other words, trying to hard is the problem, and when they just relax and let nature take its course, they get pregnant. This frequently happens when a couple adopts a child, thinking they can't have their own, and the woman gets pregnant.

There are physical causes, of course, that only a fertility specialist can pinpoint. However, healthy young women are at the peak of their fertility and shouldn't have problems unless their husbands have a low sperm count, or the woman has a blockage such as blocked tubes.

A third reason may be that a woman doesn't want children and avoids pregnancy by choice. Perhaps she wants a career instead, or chooses to wait until she is ready, or doesn't want kids at all -- period. Hope this answers your question.

I am 25 and have no luck becoming pregnant. The Dr. said its not my husband but that she wasn't seeing anything wrong with me either. I've seen 3 gynos and finally was diagnosed with PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) It took a while for the Dr.'s to give me an answer but it is very common in young women, usually misdiagnosed, but the good news is you may still be able to have children with aid of fertility drugs...
