The reason why we sleep laying down is because this is the only way that the body can used rejuvinates itself. The tissues uses this opportunity to repair themselves, the brain rest better this way, blood flow and breathing are also regulated at this position,and the energy is restored after a hard days work

Is it not to do with muscles relaxing. You would fall down or slouch at least if attempting to fall asleep standing up unsupported.

Makes sense just to lie down in a comfy position, no?

Because when we sleep our muscles relax and we would fall over.
During this time the body releases chemicals that semi- paralyze the body, this is why you do not act out your dreams in real time.

Wow....going for the Jessica Simpson dumb record huh...Ever think that maybe wed fall onto something really sharp or hard and die?..And why do we get so tired we need to lay down cuz our body gives out, hmmm I wonder.
