No. Marriage is a sacred compact between a man and a woman and anything else is a shoddy counterfeit.

Yes, it's about fuc king time! Homosexuality is not a mental illness. Gays fall in love and so, we should have the right to wed. It is not all about children - it's about LOVE and pledging our commitment and love forever. There are so many ignorant @ssholes in this world who try forcing people to live as they want and IT AIN'T GONNA WORK THAT WAY! Gay people will make the best wedded couples! Wanna see who's "ruining the sanctity of marriage?" - Look at what the STRAIGHT couples have done to it!! Look at all the abused wives and fatherless children and guess what - MOLESTERS ARE USUALLY STRAIGHT! I can't think of a reason why a woman would even want to marry a man when women have so much more to offer.

YES! The only problem may be with the definition of marriage- marriage between man and woman or two people? That's why I think some countries in Europe have civil unions, which have the same benefits as marriages.

i think that people that argue about the 'sanctity of marriage' are stupid... marriage was traditionally used to improve one's standing in society. women would typically marry the wealthiest man they were able to. love had very little, if anything, to do with marriage. also, the more children one had the more free labor one had available. having children wasn't the result of two people expressing their love for one another; it, like marriage, was purely an economic decision.
so basically i do believe that the U.S. should recognize gay marriages because the argument against them is ridiculous.
p.s. there's also evidence to suggest that homosexuality is genetic, meaning that God, if He exists, made these people gay and they did not choose to be so.

no. as a government with (theorhetical)separation of church and state, the us shouldn't recognize any marriage only civil unions. marriage is only a ceremony to prove your commitment before your god. since all religions do it differently it is not governments duty to define religious ceremony or bestow rights based on that ceremony. any religion has the right to exclude any group of people for whatever reason making it a private institution. this same action in most cases means no public funding except in the case of marriage.

Yes--marriage is marriage.
If a man can marry himself, why can't a man marry a man? Why can't a woman marry a woman?
But no, because we are a conservative "Christian" country (when it's useful), we hide behind our Bibles preaching that it's not what God would want. Instead of trying to approach the subject of homosexuality like adults, we cower in the corners, holding our crucifixes trying to avoid the issues. It's wrong! It's terrible! AHH! Nightmares!
Right now, by limiting the rights of homosexuals to marry, we are taking away the rights we first set upon this nation. We have overcome racial and gender obstacles, and now we have to overcome this sexual obstacle as well.

Marriage has been defined differently throughout cultures and eras. I see no reason why in a country supposedly based around freedom to pursue happiness it would be limited to a man and woman. Love is love and marriage is a union between two PEOPLE who love each other, why must we gender discriminate?

Yes. Marriage is a loving bond and spiritual commitment between two people who love each other, not our government. I'm Gay. If I decide I love some one to tangle up with financially, and any other way, I will find a way. I'm not waiting for Joe Hick Fundie to approve.
I think this whole marriage thing being sacred for only a male and female completely bogus. When I worked in a bindery (making books / printing), when we would merge one component with another we called it "marrying"... Sh*t, if the book and it's cover can get "married", then so can I!!!!

Hell no! F*ck the queers! Marriage is a legal contract that affords couples certain advantages (tax breaks, etc.) in order to raise a FAMILY. If two guys want to f*ck each other in the ******, they can, but they shouldn't be allowed to get any advantages.

The Bible says lots of things-- it doesn't say anything about two women together, except for this, Luke 17:35: "There will be two women grinding together; one will be taken and the other left." So I guess lesbians have half a chance to going to heaven....
