Well, first off I have to wake up at 5:00 AM just to get to my jazz band class in the morning before schoool. I play trumpet. I have a diferent teacher for my jazz band than my regular band. My jazz teacher is well really rude to all of us and since he just got into a bad divorced with his wife, he is totally taking out his anger on us musicians. I gotta wake up way early, teacher who screams at you and always try to push you down. It feels like I am waking up every morning just to be discourage of wanting to play music. And since I'm not that good at what I play in jazz anyways, should I quit

Don't quit, the teacher has to get over himself. You'll find that it will be more fun. You ought to practice some more too. It may be less frustrating and more fun if you're a little better at what your doing.

Try and find a new teacher.

Are you doing trumpet in your regular band? If so, quit the jazz practice, concentrate on regular band practice and get together a group to jam with jazz.

Well, I'd say stick with it, and if he's being a d*ck, be a bigger one. Personally, I really like jazz, and it's one of the few things in school you will actually use in life. But just do what you think will be best in the long run. Just remember, there's always going to be d*ck headed people you will encounter.

Try to stick with it a little longer...make friends with other players and confide with them...maybe you can sign a petition to get someone else to teach the class....seeing as hes not a stable person and creates a hostile environment. Just make sure you are as mature about it as possible and you will make this teacher look very immature.

To us musicians, whatever we play, our music is our heart and soul, so I wouldn't give it up just yet, esp. if theres only ONE person hindering your dream.

I am glad I quit band after sophomore year. I was into too many sports and it was taking up too much time. However, if you are a decent player, you may be able to get a scholarship to go to university, saving you thousands.

If you enjoy it, and you dont really mind getting up that early, and dealing with your teacher, then go for it. Only leave if the stuff you said REALLY gets to you.

Yes, i think you should. If you are not that good at it, and you obviously don't really want to go, then don't. Focus on your other band.
