Today he might say that his plan to cause the assimilation (Hellenization) of eastern and western peoples into one homogeneous group of people by encouraging his soldiers to take wives and establish other relationships among the people he had conquered has obviously failed.
Back then, of course the business about failing to make his troops advance into India in order to conquer that nation may have been seen as a failure by Alexander.
But, if some of the speculation is correct, he would most likely would have thought that contracting syphilis, and his consequent death thereof, would have been his greatest failure.

I am assuming that you are referring to Alexander the Great. My answer would be that he died - and at so young an age. You might recall that Alexander had been proclaimed a God by some of the religions of areas that he had conquered. Although I don't believe he believed this fully, he nevertheless made some statements that indicate that he liked the idea. On the other hand, although it may be deemed a failure for a God to die - remember that this is the very core of Christian belief: God's death (Christ being part of God).
