translation? rotation? reflection? haha im not too sure

this tessellation is both a rotation and translation...there is no reflections here...basiccally you notice that you can shift the shape to various places on the tessellation and have it reoccur...this is called translation. you also notice that if you change the orientatoin of the shape...for instatnce...rotate it you find several occourances found on the tessellation

however, this shape does not reflect because it is not symmetric anywhere.

Translation and rotation, but not reflection.

Take any one tile, and rotate it and you can move it to a different row. The translation is the move to a different row.

If you take a tile and reflect it, no rotation will restore the pattern needed to match it to another in the tessellation.

By the way, to see that reflection won't match up with any part of the pattern of tessellation, just hold up a small mirror at right angle to the screen and imagine looking through the mirror onto the pattern. The reflected tile will not match any tile in the pattern.
