theoretically, a person oculd serve as VP forever PROVIDED he's on the winning ticket

generally speaking, unless they are doing a fabulous job, cabinet members are replaced when the new president comes in

The VP Serves for four years. There is no fixed term for Cabinet Members. They can resign if they want to anytime, or they can be removed anytime. They are appointed, not elected.
