okay, well... the first thing you need to do is find a music teacher, preferrably a choir teacher, that can listen to you and critique you. a person can never become better by themself, especially in matters of voice.

the second thing you need to do is really concentrate on breathing. breathe low in your diapragm. that is a muscle directly under the end of your sternum. it should feel like you're filling an inner-tube around your torso when you breathe in. don't lift your shoulders whatn you breathe. once you breathe correctly, you should feel it even into your back. it takes a LONG time, believe me, but once you get there, your tone and lung capacity will be amazing and it will help you to sing on pitch.

hopefully this will get you started, however, i dont think this is exactly a "singing lesson". leave that to a professional music or voice teacher. it's well worth the money. i've been taking voice for two years and i've improved tremendously.

have a good night.

First, you are a singer already. Understand that. If you can open your mouth and sing, you are a singer.

Now, what is it that you wish to improve? Breathing? Start by becoming conscious (as long as you can) of breathing. Do what we call "square breathing" -
a. Breathe in for a count of four (through your nose)
b. Stop your breath for a count of four
c. Breathe out for a count of four (through your lips)
d. Stop your breath for a count of four
e. Go back and repeat all steps

Do this every time you are conscious of your breathing. It will become natural and it is calming. Singing in front of others is a bit scary so square breathing helps calm you too.

Listen to yourself. I know, that is hard. Get a recording device, go to somewhere private and sing. Sing loudly. Best if you have some music behind you (but not other singing) so if you have some Karoke music, great!

Listen to how you sound. Where could you improve that? You are probably not sustaining your notes long enough. That is a function of breathing. You have to breathe in before you try to hit a note, especially a loud one. That is why I urged you to sing loudly. You will find out where you are not breathing.

Next, work on just one song. Work on finding out where you run out of breath, where you think you are doing great, where you would like to do something different. Practice that song. Make it your own. Make sure you record and listen to it. You cannot hear how you sound in your head.

Just like becoming a great painter does not come overnight, becoming a great singer takes work. Eventually you do need a teacher, someone who knows exactly what you are doing and how to correct it. But in the meantime, get singing.

Hope this helps.

ok, so the single choir you have tried has a "detrimental instructor" the place else have you ever regarded? have you ever regarded right into a church choir (the place a great form of the time the instructor is extremely good). whether you're actually not a member of a church this can be an selection. have you ever regarded at attempting to get a team of well suited people from the college choir to fulfill and prepare and notice what you are able to arise with, you're able to be able to no longer be waiting to deal with to pay for inner maximum training, yet a team of you will possibly be waiting to organise a team classification. You did no longer like what between the answerers published yet rather that answer grew to become into suited on the money. analyzing stuff from a internet site and thinking "oh, i'm rather progressing" is actual no longer the terrific thank you to pass. you're able to think of approximately finding a real individual that should assist you right here.
