Proper education to distinguish prejudices from true knowledge.
Starting the fight first in our own selves.
Proper education means physical, intellectual and spiritual education.
True knowledge means knowledge from the perfect Educator.
Fighting against self, because we see best what we bear in our own hearts; and other people have their own struggles against their different prejudices.

I take more a marxist view:
It is not possible for a minority (that is the groups recieving racism) to rise up and free themselves within the already established community. This is essentially because the political and legal bodies work as tool to supress minorities (whether directly or indirectly). Therefore the only way to free yourself from racism is to create your own society with your own legal and politcal structure.
"The emancipation of a group, this implies the necessary condition for the creation of a new society" (Karl Marx).
So in short? It's not possible to fight racism within an already established community which has always been based on racism.

Amen ! I'm with you on this one !
There is a little programme started by a Canadian, thats catching on really well...its a programme that aims at teaching empathy and aims at developing results at getting people to have empathy for one another, despite religious differences, cultural differences, racial, class, gender, different conscience differences, It started off as "Roots of Empathy"
Its a constructive way to "fight" prejudice, and thankfully, its growing ! You and I could spread the word about it, or help support it, or even think about using its strategy in our lives, promoting empathy in order to prevent prejudice. Its one definitely good thing that should carry on. You can read about it at http://www.rootsofempathy.org/Home.html

By being educated, open and understanding.
By not allowing narrow minded people to frame the debate according to their values.
By being willing to stand up and say prejudice is wrong

Attacking people won't do it, when people are attacked, they will only defend themselves and their beliefs. Set a good example where ever you are, and if you have children, teach them to respect all and hate no one, The only way the cycle will be broken is if people decide on their own that it is a better way to be.
