How hot must you get them to destroy the data?

Heat does not truely destroy the data, magnets do not entirely destroy the data. There are many many ways to get information off of hard drives. The only sure ways to get rid of the data are to put it in carbonic acid and melt the platters, or drive a knife of fork through them repedatively until destroyed. Otherwise the data will still be there for a forensic expert to find.

There are programs(I've seen them) that are used on computers that are donated by banks,to local schools, that have been "disinfected" by the FBI that totally wipe HDD's clean,,;-)=
