The greatest American folk rock artist is of course Bob Dylan, But there are many others such as Arlo Guthrie. here are some of my favorites besides Dylan without regard to nationality Loreena McKennit The Byrds The Searchers Fairport Convention - I love Richard and Linda Thompson Early Simon and Garfunkel Kingston Trio The Band Yes I think there is a difference in opinion on this between British and American listeners. I am not well versed on folk but I do like it. Many Rock and Pop bands have folky sounding songs in their catalog. I am American and yes Folk belongs in R&P since their is so much crossover.
