It's when you make a statement about how you believe something will work out and make sure it happens that way.

For example, you might say "I will have a really bad time at the party tonight"

Because you're mind is set on not enjoying yourself, you'll go with a negative frame of mind and will make it impossible to have a good time.

You therefore fulfil your own prophecy.

A self fulfilling prophecy is something you predict will happen to you does. For example if you have a transit system and you say it's not going to be used , but you underfund it, don't advertise it and then wonder why it failed , that is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Its a prophecy that will come true because people believe it will. Like if I said that a big city would be attacked, you would say it came true on 9/11, when really I had no idea if it would come true, but because you thought it would it did come true (in a way.)

Another way to look at it is this way: what we think of ourselves comes out in our feelings, choices, and behaviours. So we do, in a way create our destiny, thus the self-fulfillment concept.
I hope this makes simple a rather complex answer.

things do happen -- whether we like it or not. they were due to happen. put these facts in priority. the "self-fulfilling" prophesy is part of that "going to happen one way or the other". If we think hard enough about a certain act or action -- consciously or unconsciously we tend to do things that way and finally that act does happen. I am sure it helps.

It is like when you are riding a bicycle. If you turn your head and look at something, it is likely your bicycle or motorcycle will travel in that direction. The same happens with life.

There is the theory that if you want something enough it will happen. I believe we can apply this negatively or positively. The mind is more powerful than we give it credit for.

It means, for example, that you see in a dream, or that you state, 'That dog is gonna get run over,' and it happens. Or something along those lines.

To make your own prediction come true. I say I'm stupid, therefore, I become stupid. Wait a sec. No, I'm not. Did I say that?

that fact that it was prophesised to happen makes it more likely to actually happen.

example - I tell you, on the way to work tomorrow you're going to crash your car. When you drive tomorrow you're worrying about what I said so you do actually crash your car.

if it hadn't been prohesised, it would have been less likely to have happened.
