My friend and I had a fight on asian pride. Im chinese and hes indian. I said asian pride is eating asian food watching anime doing martials arts and being smart. Because if u dont have these things u cant say u have asian pride. For ex u cant say that the only thing u eat is mcdonalds and say u have asian pride. he says asian pride is being pround ur indian and he calls me selfish. he thinks that I think asian pride is based on oriental people and I think he thinks that asian pride revolves around indian people( Which it's not). Who is right.

Asian pride is pride in being who you are as an Asian. It's having pride in your cultural history. You can be just as proud of being Asian while eating sushi as you can eating a greasy burger and fries. I am an American of Japanese heritage, and I don't watch anime at all. I like crime dramas when I watch TV. I don't do martial arts either. I did well in school because I worked very hard for good grades, not because my intellect is any higher than others. Have pride by respecting and remembering the history and customs of your people, but not by doing things you think you should like because you are Asian. We are all our own person.

I'm also Asian along with a few other things...I think having "Asian Pride" can mean many things. I mean it isn't like you have to eat rice everyday (although some of us do), know kung fu, eat every meal with chopsticks etc. I think it's great just to be proud of who you are and also where you are from. Even though I'm Asian I don't watch anime, I don't always eat rice everyday, I don't even speak any other languages but English...there are many things that I don't do and many things I do, but I still consider myself proud to be Asian and also proud to be an American. I also think it's important to know your roots a lot of us Asians are VERY ignorant when it comes to our own culture. So in conclusion...having "Asian Pride" can mean many things in many different ways.

honor is more than ethnic custom for the few . does an Asian
farmer with out martial arts have Asian pride or only those like you describe . if so how much prejudice does it take to have Asian pride w/out honor ...and forget about the J**k*ss Indian
your national pride is not his nor mine... we only should lend an objective view to your prerogative.

Asian pride is being proud of your Asian heritage. Period. You're both reading far too much into it. You can be proud of your heritage and still embrace other cultures. Just be proud of who you are and let others have their own opinions.
