I have an existing small workgroup named FABULOUS. I try to add 1 PC to the workgroup.
On the taskbar show that im connected to the LAN.
I also make sure that the workgroup name are the same (FABULOUS)

I try to access the network places, but it seems that im not connected to the existing workgourp (FABULOUS). But on network places, there is the workgroup name (FABULOUS) and the only member is itself.

I also try to PING the other computer from the new and vise versa, but the result is “Reply timeout” means not connected.

What should I do?

I would think as an option to check the network conection to see if file and print sharings enabled. Second would be to check to see if your firewalls open to connect . See if you or the other pcs ip adress is being blocked in your firewall program Its happened a few times for me ;).
extra option if you have a flash drive just run through "setup home or office network" and pass the stick around to the available pcs you want to connect to just to make sure evrythings copasetic on all pcs.
Hope that helps you :).

1. Check your LanCard (ethernet) are configured correctly.
>check the cable, HUB/swicth, try to disable your firewall first.
2. Do you already check -ipconfig- from command prompt?
c:\ipconfig
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Marvell:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 127.0.0.13
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 155.55.5.5

3. Make sure there is no other pc using the same ip address.
4. Still have a problem? try to restart your pc.

Check the subnet mask of the network computers. Yours should be the same as the network. Try to use as ip that doesn't collide anyone else.

Run the network setup wizard in network neighborhood. Its the fastest way to get everything right.

Check and see that although you've added the name that you've given the computer permission to have other computers access it and it connect to other computers...Double check the name and adddress...rinse and repeat.
