Maybe she gets teased or made fun of by kids after school everyday, and that's what causes her to cry. One day, you should ask her nicely what's wrong and she should tell you what's going on in her life. Please let me know, and good luck! Hopefully, I was some help to you. :)

Clearly there's something wrong in her life, most likely home life. Talk to her about it. Just take the time to listen. It's very reasonable for her not to show such emotions at school, where she will get judged, and doesn't want to appear a "crybaby" or something. So she uses the second place she spends most of her time. The reason I think it's a home life is if you see her at school everyday, then you'll probably know if she is in conflict with someone or academically stressed. If none of these are true, then just talk to her. Study the way she's acting. When people are depressed, they'll give telltale signs of the problem even if not deliberately. But the only way you know is to talk to her, and study her behavior. Most of all, be there for her, if you're a good friend, she'll probably just outright tell you. People in distress or sadness are often looking for a emotional outlet, someone to confide in.

I agree with the comments made so far. But there could be some serious abuse going on in her life. I don't know how old you two are. But if it is a situation of sexual abuse she won't talk about it too easily, and certainly not through direct confrontation. Keep being a friend for her. Keep a respectful distance when you have to, but let her know you are there for her.
