Whoa! Did you really travel to every single Walmart in the USA and check out their nail salons? Just kidding. I've been in several Walmarts and never seen a nail salon in any of them.
The reality is that our Oriental and Asian immigrants look for work they can get into that is steady and pays reasonably well. The schooling and test in California for working as a manicurist is not terribly difficult and there seems to be plenty of jobs. Also, a manicurist can set up shop with very little investment in eqiupment and supplies and often can set up in an operating hair salon or spa on a commision basis.
You need to do a lot of research before committing your money to opening a nail salon. The shop owner is respondsible for all the overhead, supplies, licenses, taxes, and liability insurence. Lots of law suits over nail infections and funguses. Are you a licenced beautician, esthetican or nailcare professional? If not, you won't have a clue as to what is going on in your own shop.

This is so true. I'm from a town that's 97% caucasian and at the nail salon by wal-mart.. asians. I believe that you aren't making a racist statement, it's just a fact. I prefer to go to a salon where someone who speaks English works. In the mall, at wal-mart, wherever the asian nail techs are.. they always hurt me, never understand what I want and I like being able to converse with my technician. I think people go to those people because they are in convenient areas, like in the mall, by wal-mart.. and they get you in and out in a jiffy. But I prefer quality.

They are diligent and focused on what they are doing and are usually good at it-they must stay focus in order to do the repetitive work at hand -No pun intended- I and most people would not like to do this work on a daily basis.

hey,
a friendly word of advice is to say Asian, not "Oriental". its just outdated and comes off as being offensive.
anyway, no big deal.
in my experience, many professional nail salons are owned by Asian families. particularly Vietnamese.
its not just inside walmat!
