I know a trick for all square number at least in theory:
Ex 27*27=20*34+7*7=680+49=729
ex 24*24=20*28+4*4=560+16=576
you use the following theorem:
a^2 =(a-b)(a+b)+ b^2=a^2-b^2 +b^2=a^2
so always subtract a number so you come to a easy number like 10 or 20 etc and also add the same number and multiply the two numbers and then add the square of that number you were subtracting and adding, hope you understand.

You have to be able to look at the equation different ways to come up with the shortest answer ex; 679 can be looked at as 680 -1 so at the end of the equation 679-40 you think 680-40= 640-1 is 639. You subtract the 1 to get the fast answer association works well also ex; 25 can be associated with quarters I've made change with $5 =20 quarters so 20 x 25 = 500

Use common sense. Memorize the equations but don't let them get to your head. Math is really simple it's just that sometimes people make it complicated. What I do is picture real life situations in my head.

Just do problems over and over and over again. With math the best way to learn is to just work a lot of problems.
