Why are there only 8 episodes to season 5 of Sex and the City? And 2 parts to season 6?

Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) was pregnant, which cut season 5 short.

Each episode is 30 minutes long, the edited versions cut out some stuff but with commercials it equals out to be a half hour still. Season 5 was only 8 episodes because Sarah Jessica Parker was pregnant I dont know why season 6 is broken into 2 parts, just that the last episode "An American Girl in Paris, Part Deux" is an hour long instead of just 30 minutes

I think there were only 8 to season 5 because Sarah Jessica Parker was pregnant, so it was easier on her.
