Here's my question/conern:

I just got hired into a finance firm, and I work in a CUBICLE for about 8 to 10 hours each day. Sitting about 7 feet behind me is a very large and NOISY printer that has an internal fan running all day inside of it. I try to ignore it, but it hurts my ears after a while. I asked my manager if the printer can be moved to another location. She said no, but did offer me the option to switch MY location. So, I tried out the new spot. The new cubicle wasn't without IT'S fair share of problems. The A/C made the spot very chilly, and, since it is away from the printer, you can now clearly hear the office's fluxtuating A/C system- sounds like "brrrrrrr, ::pause::, brrrrrrr, ::pause, brrrrr..." So, now I have a dilemma. Stay with the Printer, or move to icy-annoying land. I am afraid that if I move, I will find the new spot as WORSE, and then the OLD spot (next to the printer) will be taken up by another.Suggestions?

Buy a small heater and take the cold spot. Or buy earplugs and stay with the printer.

I catch colds or allergies from the dust that blows from the vents. I feel your pain. If is is directly on you...like mine was. I called a maitenence guy to redirect the air buy moving...kind of closing up the vent a little. In cubicle land-you will hear noise after noise...after a while you will be able to block it out. Ear plugs might work, I keep a throw blanket at my desk, sweater and music.

silly, get an electric heater and play some jazz. That will help. Stay away from the printer. People are always running there. You might end up being the suply closet too! Some people might interupt you by asking for a stapler, or a pen, paperclip.......

sitting next to a printer might also pose another problem
people coming over to get print out. that might be a little distraction for your work.
so my suggestion, go to the new place. chose the least of the devils.

Get a coat and ear plugs! When you work in a cube you gotta be prepared for anything. Just so you know..there are no good cubicles.

Go with the e-phones, jacket and maybe the jazz, all the answers lead to the devil you know versus the one you don't! Personally if your winter season is longer than the summer I know where I'd be sitting!

I'd go with the printer and get some headphones to plug into your comp. Then go to www.listentoamovie.com or www.pandora.com. Both great time killers/noise drowners at work. ;)

Either you are too sensitive or you need to find a new job where they take better care of their employees.

Honestly i would go with the sweater unless it is blowing directly on you.. if it is go back to the old one.. cuz with it blowing on you can cause colds to come on..
