Ok, so I inherited a snake from my uncle. I believe it is a Burmese Python. It is VERY large. I'm finding the food to be more expensive then I want to pay for, given my limited income. So here is my quesiton, I can get puppies and smaller dogs from the pound for free,
how many should I get, and do certain breeds taste better? Would kittens be a viable alternative? Thanks a bunch and my python thanks you as well!

Rats, Rabbits, Chickens, Pigs (depending on the size)
If you are caught feeding dogs and cats, you could be charged with cruelty. Besides.. how many times do you think you can walk in the pound to adopt multiple animals? They will get suspicious.
Your snake (depending on how large it actually is) will need to eat between once a week (if only big enough for rats) once every 2 weeks( chickens and rabbits) or once a month (pigs)
Not sure where you are but we get large chickens for between 50 cents and $1. Rabbits are about $3. Just look around for chicken farms, and rabbit breeders.

If you can't afford to feed this animal properly, I would look into finding someone to take it that can.

Good Luck!

My ball python will only eat live mice because it is so picky. But from what I have read I'd recommend sticking to frozen or pre-killed mice for a couple of reasons. A live mouse does carry more bacteria and your ball python could end up with harmful internal parasites. Live prey is also capable of fighting back and could injure your ball python.

the welfare law sees no difference betwen the species it only knows mammals in the result there is no difference beten feeding a rat or a dog. at least you can feed whatever your snake can swallow so just go for it. for all the ignorant people what do think is the better way, feed some overpopulated animals that will end/stay in the shelter awaiting to be killed or buy some feeders especially breed for this suppose? it's kind of sick we need to put down millions of animals each year on one hand and breed another millions under lowest condition just for te reason to be feeders! ever known the way shelter animals go? they get cardial injection a very cruel and painful way to die (ever seen? i do have!) after that their dead bodies are selled to the rendering plant to be ground up in huge grinders and cooked. a very few days after you can buy them in your local store as cosmetics like soap (look out for castor oil!) or as ingredient of big brand pet food (animal byproducts!)! now tell me what is the more sicken, feed them to a snake for this it's natural diet or feed them to your beloved dog in shape of fancy labeled pet food and make him an cannibal???

Are you serious? You want to take pets out of a shelter and turn them into meat? :-O

You can buy food raised for snakes. If you can't afford to feed the snake, sell or give him away.

Well i dont know about the cat and dogs, but you can try feeding him chickens or rabbits. I think i would kill them first before you give them to him, other wise they might scratch him. Depending on his size is going to depened on how many to feed him.
